Garden Plain led Trinity Academy 14-0 in the second quarter when Friday night’s game was suspended. It will resume at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Academy.

The game, scheduled to be played at Garden Plain, was moved to Eisenhower’s stadium on Friday, but will be completed at Trinity.

Garden Plain quarterback Nate Pauly completed a 52-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Caleb Ellis to give the Owls a 7-0 lead with 3:15 left in the first quarter.

Jared Becker forced a Trinity turnover on the next possession, coming away with an interception and returning the ball for 50 yards.

A fourth down encroachment penalty against Trinity gave Garden Plain a fresh set of downs, leading to a 5-yard run from Pauly that extend the Owls’ lead 14-0 with 11:55 left in the second quarter.

On Trinity’s next possession Sam Hardin completed a pass to Jake Windholz on fourth down to the Knight’s 45-yard line, but Becker stripped the ball and returned the fumble to Trinity’s 5-yard line before fumbling himself, giving the ball back to Trinity.

Sam Schroeder gave Trinity some breathing room with two runs for 11 yards, then lightning was spotted and the game was halted with 9:14 left in the second quarter.
