Former TCU women’s golfer takes WAPT weekend lead at Heritage Classic in Wichita

After a five-way tie for the lead after the opening round of the Heritage Classic, a sole leader has emerged entering the weekend at Rolling Hills Country Club.

Greta Bruner, a 2021 TCU graduate, opened up a one-shot lead over the field following a 2-under round of 70 on Friday to improve her 36-hole total to a 7-under score of 137 at the Women’s All-Pro Tour season finale.

The Woodlands, Texas, native leads the trio of Sarah Kahn, a 2023 High Point graduate, Hailee Cooper, a 2023 Texas A&M graduate, and Megan Osland, a Canada native, by one stroke. Khan and Osland both shared the first-round lead with Bruner, while Cooper shot back-to-back rounds of 69 to move up into the crowded second spot.

The 36-hole cut was a 3-over par score of 147, which left 50 players alive for the weekend’s conclusion to the championship event with a season-high $100,000 purse.

Alison Muirhead and Nannette Hill have already secured top-five finishes in the season-long standings, which automatically advanced them to Stage II of the LPGA Qualifying School.

As far as local ties, 17-year-old Maize senior Kinslea Jones improved her score on Friday, but her 36-hole total of 150 strokes just missed the cut; Rolling Hills assistant pro Britney Tyndall finished at 162 strokes; former K-State golfer Haley Vargas also just missed the cut at 149; and Topeka native Rachel Stous made it to the weekend in a tie for 37th place with a score of 146.
