Summer baseball: Wichita State’s Bohm leads league in home runs

Coastal Plain League

▪  3B Alec Bohm and SS Trey Vickers played in last week’s All-Star game. Bohm won the home run derby, hitting 12 home runs in the final round to defeat Dillon Stewart by one.

Bohm leads the CPL with 38 RBI and nine homers. His .576 slugging percentage ranks third and he is hitting .311 with 18 strikeouts and eight walks. Vickers is hitting .325 and has committed 16 errors in 28 games.

Florida State League

▪  Codi Heuer pitched 2/3 of an inning, striking out one, in the Florida League All-Star game. Heuer, in 10 appearances and 18 2/3 innings, has a 2.89 ERA with 26 strikeouts and four walks for the Altamonte Springs Boom. Teammate Keylan Killgore owns a 3.81 ERA in six starts, with 22 strikeouts and 18 walks.

Cape Cod League

▪  C Gunnar Troutwine is hitting .308 in 17 games with two doubles and six RBI for Chatham. For Cotuit, 1B Greyson Jenista is hitting .214 in 24 games. He has one home run, three doubles and two triples.

New England Collegiate Baseball League

▪  OF Travis Young will run in the 60-yard dash at Sunday’s All-Star game skills competition. Young is hitting .179 in 24 games with four steals.

Alaska Baseball League

▪  Connor Lungwitz leads the league with 34 strikeouts (three walks). In six appearances (five starts) he is 1-0 with a 2.01 ERA.
