Former Wichita State guard Fred VanVleet worked out for the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. VanVleet’s flown all over, so it was probably a relief for him to practice in Indianapolis.

He is working out in Indy (in between NBA gigs) with trainer Chris Thomas, who is also from Rockford, Ill. SLAM magazine takes a look here.

VanVleet joined a Pacers workout group that included Thon Maker, Jake Layman, Shavon Shields, Stephen Zimmerman and Retin Obasohan.

If you’ve been following these interviews with VanVleet and Ron Baker (or any other athlete) you know that every one of them is impressed with the organization, coach and is sure his game fits the team.

Indiana’s Nate McMillan hasn’t been an NBA coach since 2012 in Portland. VanVleet is a fan of the newly hired Pacers coach.

“I’ve been a fan since his Trail Blazer days,” VanVleet told Pacers reporter Wheat (really) Hotchkiss. “I always followed his teams. It was nice to be up close and be able to pick his brain a little bit and see what he’s thinking.”

You can watch a video of VanVleet’s interview here.
