Former Wichita State stars Ron Baker, Fred VanVleet continue NBA tryouts

Ron Baker will attend NBA tryouts for Brooklyn (Tuesday), Milwaukee (Thursday) and Denver (Saturday). Fred VanVleet works out for Golden State on Tuesday and Houston and Toronto later this week.

That hectic schedule is typical for prospects trying to squeeze in workouts before the June 23 draft. NBA people like to see how athletes handle the stress and travel as they prepare for a league with lots of both.

Both Baker and VanVleet worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this month. I’ve seen reports with VanVleet scheduled for anywhere from eight to 15 workouts, including with the Raptors, Warriors and Pistons.

Baker spent last weekend at the NBA Draft Combine, where he measured 6-foot-4 1/4 in shoes and 6-3 1/4 without shoes. You can read his measurables here, courtesy of the NBA.
