Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet are in Los Angeles on Friday for tryouts with the Los Angeles Lakers. It is the first of what should be many for those two.
Most NBA prospects will go visit 5-10 NBA teams for a day of drills, scrimmages and interviews. In most cases, NBA teams bring in a group of five or six players in one day. They might shoot 100 three-pointers, play 1-on-1 and 3-and-3, interview and take measurements.
NBA teams are evaluating draft picks and looking for players who might fit as free agents or fill out summer league teams.
Cleanthony Early, for example, worked out for the Knicks, Memphis, Charlotte, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Toronto and others in 2014 before the Knicks picked him in the second round. Last year, Tekele Cotton worked out for Toronto, Houston, Oklahoma City and others. He played with OKC in the summer league in Las Vegas.

For Baker, this is his only scheduled workout until after the NBA Combine next week in Chicago.
