Old-school WuShock, skirt and all, is back on Wichita State’s basketball uniforms

Skirt-wearing, full-bodied WuShock fell out of favor in 1998, replaced by above-the-waist, muscled-up Wu, which is easier to reproduce on gear and looked tougher — since he wasn’t wearing a skirt.

Fortunately for fans of old-school Wu, archaic logos are reborn as throwbacks. On Friday, Wichita State wore yellow basketball jerseys with old Wu on the shorts.

Those jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the season, so WSU wanted a look that would stand out. Last season’s MTXE throwback uniforms (worn against Tulsa) proved a hit, so WSU turned back the clock again.

“We wanted to do something different,” director of operations Dominic Okon said.

The yellow uniforms lack a name on the back, also because of the auction plans. WSU’s white and black uniforms have names.
