No. 11 Wichita State vs. Memphis pregame
Tuesday’s pregame update:
▪ The Pentagon looks even better in person than it does in pictures. I think the uniqueness of the arena shows through on TV. If you’re going to travel 400 miles into freezing weather to play a basketball game, this is the kind of place you want waiting for you.
▪ The Tigers are breaking in a new backcourt and injuries have been a problem. Six scholarship players have missed practice with injury or illness. In all seven players, have missed 52 practices. Ten players are new to the team and Memphis returns two starters and five letter-winners. WSU’s pressure may be a big factor.
▪ Memphis shot 14 free throws against an NCAA Division II team in its exhibition loss, which doesn’t say good things about its ability or willingness to drive or push the ball into the paint. The Tigers shot 22 three-pointers and I would assume WSU will work hard to make the Tigers jump shooters and take away driving and passing lanes.

Memphis Commercial-Appeal: Who guards Tekele Cotton?
The Wichita Eagle: How will the Shocker bigs guard?
