Texas junior college center will visit Wichita State men’s basketball

Lee (Texas) College sophomore center Ahmed Mohamed starts a visit to Wichita State on Tuesday, coach Roy Champagne said.

Before we get to Mohamed, let’s appreciate that Roy Champagne is the perfect name for a Texas junior college coach.

Mohamed (6-foot-9, 230 pounds) averaged 16.2 points and 10.7 rebounds for Lee, which went 14-17. He made 54.5 percent of his shots and 62.8 percent of his foul shots (120 of 191). He blocked 1.3 shots.

“He’s a very athletic, powerful player,” Champagne said. “He scores around the lane and he can run the floor.”

Champagne said Mohamed, from Alexandria, Egypt, visited Washington State and will choose between those two schools. Washington State recently signed juco center Conor Clifford.
