Wichita State guard Fred VanVleet starts the preseason hype with his spot on Blue Ribbon Yearbook’s preseason All-American team. VanVleet landed the cover spot on the this fall’s edition, joined by Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell, North Carolina’s Marcus Paige, Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon and Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky.

VanVleet, a 6-foot junior from Rockford, Ill., averaged 11.6 points and 5.4 assists last season. As a sophomore, he earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from The Associated Press and Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.
