Iowa State beat Wichita State 3-0 on Friday night in Ames, Iowa, in the opening volleyball match of the season for both teams.
The Shockers only managed to lead once during the first two games, won by Iowa State 25-16, 25-21. WSU ran off five straight points to take a 13-12 lead in the second game, but Iowa State won the next two points and never trailed again.
In the third game WSU used a 9-3 run to take a 16-14 lead, and the score was 20-20 before the Cyclones won the final five points of the match.
Mikaela Raudsepp and Abbie Lehman led WSU with nine kills apiece. Emily Hiebert had 21 assists. WSU hit .211 for the match, while ISU hit 323.

The Shockers play No. 18 Creighton at 4 p.m. Saturday in Ames.
