KEYN will broadcast Wichita State basketball exhibition games in Canada
KEYN, 103.7-FM, will broadcast all of Wichita State’s men’s basketball exhibition games in Canada.
The first three games will be broadcast live on Aug. 6, 7 and 9. The final game will be tape delayed at 6 p.m. Aug. 10.
Mike Kennedy and Bob Hull will provide play by play and commentary. Kennedy said it is the first time he has broadcast this type of exhibitions for WSU.
The Shockers play the University of Quebec at Montreal at noon Aug. 6, Carleton University at 2 p.m. Aug. 7, McGill University at 8 p.m. Aug. 9 and the IndiSport All-Stars on Aug. 10.
NCAA teams are allowed to take an exhibition tour outside the United States every four seasons. In 2011, the Shockers went 3-2 in Brazil. In 2006, WSU played exhibition games in Vancouver.
Wichita State volleyball honored — WSU is one of 131 NCAA Division I volleyball teams to earn a Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
WSU compiled a grade-point average of 3.41 in 2015-16.
▪ WSU’s Volleyball 101 Dinner is Aug. 20 at Koch Arena’s practice gyms. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at goshockers.com. The dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (316) 978-5549.
▪ WSU completed its schedule with the announcement of Cincinnati as its opening opponent in the Shocker Volleyball Classic. The Shockers play Cincinnati at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at Koch Arena. WSU opens the season against Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
