Wichita State hires LSU assistant Danny Bryan to coach men’s tennis

Wichita State hired LSU assistant coach Danny Bryan as its men’s tennis coach on Friday.

Bryan worked as an assistant at LSU since 2008 after earning All-American honors for the Tigers as a player.

“He’s a natural leader, motivator and teacher who has thrived in a number of roles,” WSU interim athletic director Darron Boatright said in a news releae. “He comes from a long line of tennis coaches, and his experience, character, vision and goals made him an easy choice to lead our men’s tennis program.”

Bryan replaces Brad Louderback, who resigned earlier this month after he was suspended for undetermined reasons during the NCAA regionals in May.

Bryan was named 2013 Southern Region Assistant Coach of the Year and worked with 10 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Americans. LSU played in the NCAAs in six of Bryan’s eight seasons as assistant and won a first-round match each time.

WSU won the Missouri Valley Conference title and tournament in 2016, advancing to the NCAAs for the first time since 2013.
