South Georgia Tech All-American forward signs with Wichita State’s women’s basketball team

South Georgia Tech forward Angela Tompkins has signed a letter of intent with Wichita State’s women’s basketball team, according to South Georgia Tech coach James Frey.

Tompkins, a 6-foot sophomore from Punta Gorda, Fla., earned NJCAA Division I All-American and Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year. She averaged 17.6 points and 11.1 rebounds, making 60 percent of her shots and 74.8 percent of her free throws.

South Georgia Tech went 27-6 and lost in the championship game of the Region XVII tournament.

Tompkins will join South Georgia Tech product TaQuandra Mike, who is a senior-to-be at WSU. In late March, Shockers assistant coach Bridgette Gordon spoke at South Georgia Tech’s awards banquet.
