Former Wichita State guard Ty Taylor will transfer to North Carolina-Wilmington

Former Wichita State guard Ty Taylor is transferring to North Carolina-Wilmington, he announced on his Twitter account Sunday.

Taylor, from Kansas City, played in 19 games for the Shockers and averaged 3.1 points and 7.9 minutes as a freshman. He scored a season-high 10 points against Charleston Southern. He made 21 of 72 shots and 10 of 32 three-pointers. After playing shooting guard much of his career, he struggled with the transition to point guard.

He underwent surgery on his right shoulder to repair the labrum after the season. Taylor, 6-foot, came to WSU after one season at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy and four years at Grandview (Mo.) High.

North Carolina Wilmington went 25-8 and lost to Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Taylor will sit out next season as redshirt and have three seasons of eligibility.
