Stakes high for Golden State Warriors in Wichita State-Vanderbilt First Four game
Wichita State’s path in the NCAA Tournament is the cause of some friendly smack-talk in the locker room of the Golden State Warriors.
Warriors vice president of communications Raymond Ridder is rooting for the Shockers, a tribute to his Wichita roots. He attended elementary school in Wichita and Goddard and spent his sophomore and junior years at Northwest High.
He has a friendly wager with Warriors center Festus Ezeli on Tuesday’s game in the NCAA Tournament’s First Four. Ezeli played for Vandy from 2007-12 before Golden State drafted him with the 30th pick in 2012.
The loser performs in a video extolling the success of the winning school.
The stakes and smack are sure to grow for the winner. Next up for either WSU or Vandy is sixth-seeded Arizona and the former Wildcats with the Warriors include coach Steve Kerr, assistant coach Luke Walton and player Andre Iguodala.
