Wichita State’s women’s tennis is No. 13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, highest in school history.
The Shockers (12-3) moved up eight spots after defeating No. 23 Kansas and No. 46 New Mexico last week. They have won five matches over ranked teams this season.
WSU’s previous high was a No. 16 ranking in March 2007.
The Shockers play No. 50 SMU (12:30 p.m.) and UMKC (4:30 p.m.) Thursday at the Coleman Tennis Complex.
WSU’s Gabriela Porubin earned Missouri Valley Conference player of the week honors after going 3-0 at No. 1 singles last week. She is 18-9 overall.
A WSU player has won the MVC’s weekly award six out seven times this spring.
