Wichita State’s Alex Harden named Valley player of the week
Wichita State senior Alex Harden earned Missouri Valley Conference player of the week honors for the third time this season and the second straight week.
Harden, a guard from Springfield, Ill., scored 31 points in Friday’s 71-59 win at Missouri State. She made 12 of 18 shots and 6 of 7 free throws, also adding five rebounds and seven assists. Harden moved into 10th place on WSU’s career scoring list with 1,358 points.
It is the fourth consecutive week that a Shocker has won or shared the honor. Alie Decker shared the award with Drake’s Lizzy Wendell on Dec. 22. Jamillah Bonner earned the award on Dec. 31.
