Wichita State 13th in new AP rankings; Kansas moves up to No. 9
Wichita State moved up two spots in the Associated Press men’s basketball poll to No. 13 on Monday.
The Shockers (14-2) have won four straight games since dropping to No. 16 in the Dec. 29 poll after a loss to George Washington. They moved up to No. 15 last week. WSU is ranked for a 30th straight week, the program’s top streak.
Kansas (13-2) moved up three spots to No. 9 after also winning four straight.
Northern Iowa (14-2) returned to the rankings at No. 23.
WSU plays Southern Illinois on Wednesday at Koch Arena. The Jayhawks play host to No. 24 Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
Five MVC schools are in the top 100 of the power rankings (RPI). WSU is No. 9 and Northern Iowa No. 18, followed by Loyola (No. 51), Evansville (No. 84) and Illinois State (No. 87).
