Wichita State picked third in MVC baseball preseason poll
Wichita State received one first-place vote and is picked third in the Missouri Valley Conference baseball poll.
Missouri State is the favorite, followed by Dallas Baptist. The Shockers received 47 points in voting by the coaches, 12 more than fourth-place Bradley.
WSU first baseman Ryan Tinkham, catcher Gunnar Troutwine and pitcher Sam Tewes were named to the preseason All-MVC team
The Shockers went 26-33 last season, 10-11 in the MVC and finished tie with Bradley in third. MSU, Dallas Baptist and Bradley advanced to the NCAA regionals last season and MSU and Dallas Baptist hosted regionals.
WSU opens the season on Feb. 19 against Northern Colorado at Eck Stadium.
