Kansas, Wichita State rise in college basketball polls
Wichita State rose one spot in both college basketball polls on Monday.
The Shockers (12-2, 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference) are No. 15 in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls. Kansas moved up one spot to No. 12 in the AP poll and one spot to No. 13 in the coaches poll.
Northern Iowa dropped out of the AP poll after Thursday’s loss at Evansville. The Panthers remained No. 23 in the coaches poll.
The Shockers are also well-regarded by the NCAA’s official power ranking (RPI) calculation that the organization began updating late last month. WSU is No. 9. Northern Iowa is No. 13. Evansville moved up 12 spots to No. 64 after defeating UNI. Loyola (No. 70) is the fourth MVC team in the top 100.
WSU plays host to Bradley on Wednesday at Koch Arena.
Kansas (11-2) opens Big 12 play on at Wednesday at No. 21 Baylor.
