Cold-shooting WSU women lose road game
Tennessee Tech’s women beat Wichita State 54-48 on Tuesday night in Cookeville, Tenn.
Rangie Bessard had 14 points and 13 rebounds fo Wichita State (3-8). Jyar Francis played for the first time after missing four games with a concussion and scored 11 as the Shockers' only other double-figure scorer.
WSU led 21-19 at halftime and stretched the lead to 30-23 on a layup by TaQuandra Mike at 5:37 of the third period, but Tennessee Tech scored 12 unanswered points during a two-minute stretch to take the lead.
In the fourth quarter WSU reclaimed the lead with a six-point run that ended with Bessard’s at the 2:52 mark to put WSU up 47-46 — but the Shockers didn’t scored again until 10 seconds remained. Tennessee Tech retook the lead on its nect possession a three-pointer by Hannah Goolsby.
WSU shot 32 percent (18 of 56) and make 1 of 16 three-point attempts.

KU led 41-33 at halftime, but Oral Roberts scored the first 10 points of the second half to go ahead 43-41 with 7:47 left in the third quarter. KU regained a narrow edge the rest of the third quarter, but ORU took contol for good with 12 straight points in the fourth quarter.
