Wichita State adds Conor Gillaspie, Emily Stockman to hall of fame
Baseball player Conor Gillaspie and volleyball player Emily Stockman are the latest selections for the Shockers Sports Hall of Fame, Wichita State announced Monday.
They will be inducted Jan. 23 at weekend ceremonies, including a men’s basketball game against Bradley.
Gillaspie, a third baseman from Omaha, earned All-American recognition in 2008 and was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick. He hit .362 with 58 doubles and 24 home runs in three seasons. The San Francisco Giants drafted him in 2008 and he played for the Giants, Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels.
Stockman, an outside hitter from Colorado Springs, received honorable mention All-American honors from the AVCA in 2008 and 2009. She was named MVC Player of the Year in 2008. She plays beach volleyball professionally on the AVP Tour.
