Wichita State drops to No. 11; Utes enjoy Shocker bounce
Wichita State dropped three spots to No. 11 in the Associated Press men’s basketball poll released Monday. Northern Iowa joined the poll at No. 23, its first appearance since 2010.
The Shockers (5-1) peaked at No. 8 before Wednesday’s overtime loss at then-No. 25 Utah. The Utes (6-1) rose to No. 13 on Monday. Kansas (6-1) moved up one spot to No. 10.
Kansas is No. 10 in the coaches poll. WSU dropped a spot to No. 11 in voting by 32 NCAA Division I coaches. Northern Iowa (8-0) made its season debut in the poll at No. 24.
WSU plays Seton Hall (7-0) on Tuesday at Koch Arena. The Pirates are fifth among unranked teams receiving points in the AP poll.
Two Missouri Valley Conference schools are ranked by the AP for the first time since the Jan. 28, 2013 poll, with No. 15 Wichita State and No. 21 Creighton.
