Wichita State volleyball, women’s tennis compile perfect NCAA graduation scores

Wichita State’s volleyball and women’s tennis teams recorded perfect Graduation Success Rates as compiled by the NCAA and released on Wednesday.

WSU’s volleyball team has a 100-percent GSR for the past four years; women’s tennis for the past five. All athletes in those programs either graduated or left the program in good academic standing in those years.

Women’s basketball’s score is 92 percent, followed by women’s golf (89), softball (86) and track and field (85). For the men’s programs, tennis (83) is followed by track and field (77), baseball (74), basketball (63) and golf (50).

The 80 percent GSR reflects the four-year average for students who entered WSU from 2005-08.

Missouri Valley Conference GSR scores range from Loyola’s 98 percent to Indiana State’s 70 percent. The MVC’s private schools — Loyola, Evansville (92), Bradley (91) and Drake (88) — lead all public schools.

Federal Graduation Rates, also released on Wednesday, show WSU athletes entering in 2008-09 graduated at a 49-percent rate. The rate for the student body was 44 percent.

There are no potential penalties attached to GSR numbers, as there are for a school’s Academic Progress Rate.
