Wichita State’s Deja Young will come home with a gold and silver medal from the Paralympic World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Young, a sophomore, won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.69 seconds, beating China’s Yanping Wang at 12.74 seconds on Friday morning.

Earlier this week, she won a silver medal in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.08.

Young, from Mesquite, Texas, was born with a deformity in her right shoulder, resulting from nerve damage. She was a member of WSU’s 400-meter relay team that placed 16th last spring in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
