Wichita State volleyball sweeps Indiana State
Wichita State swept Indiana State 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 on Saturday night in Terre Haute, Ind., beating the Sycamores for the 29th consecutive match.
Mikaela Raudsepp led the Shockers with 13 kills and hit .522, while Emily Hiebert had 19 assists and Dani Mostrom had 12 digs as the Shockers maintained a two-game lead in the Missouri Valley Conference.
WSU took the lead midway through the first set, and a service ace from Shimen Fayad gave WSU a 10-8 lead. Two-straight kills from Raudsepp increased the lead to 16-9 and Indiana State never threatened.
In the second set, kills from Katie Reilly and Raudsepp gave WSU a 7-3 lead, and a kill from Jody Larson increased the lead to 14-9. Indiana State pulled within 15-12 with three straight kills, but the Shockers maintained the lead and a kill from Larson gave WSU a 23-16 lead. The Sycamores used a 5-0 run to pull within 23-21, but the Shockers closed out the set 25-22 on a kill from Larson.
Indiana State led for much of the tird set. The Shockers tied it at 16 on a Sycamore hitting error. A kill by Lehman put WSU up 20-17, but the Sycamores tied it at 21. The two teams traded points until the Shockers won the set 26-24 on a service ace from Fayad.
