Wichita State baseball stocks up on pitchers in recruiting class

Sixteen athletes signed letters of intent with Wichita State’s baseball team during the November signing period.

The class includes junior-college pitchers Tyler Gibson, from Seminole (Okla.) State, Zach Lewis of Wabash Valley (Ill.) College and Justin Seiwald from Central Arizona College.

WSU also received letters from Maize pitcher Connor Lungwitz, Heights pitcher Keylan Killgore, third baseman Clay Richards of Cashion, Okla., Savannah (Mo.) pitcher Clayton McGinness, Omaha Roncalli third baseman/first baseman Alex Bohm, Olathe South catcher Noah Croft, DeSoto pitcher Greyson Jenista, Fossil Ridge (Colo.) pitcher Codi Heuer, Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst shortstop Luke Ritter, McKinney (Texas) North pitcher Gabe Constantine, outfielder Dayton Dugas from Sam Houston (La.) High, third baseman Lenni Kunert of Live Oak (La.) High and Frisco (Texas) Liberty pitcher Robby Evans.

▪  Bohm (6-foot-5) hit .526 for Roncalli Catholic High and is ranked No. 1 in Nebraska by Perfect Game scouting service for the class of 2015.

▪  Constantine (6-1) is a lefty who went 10-1 with a 0.60 ERA as a junior, striking out 102 in 80 innings.

▪  Croft (6-3) hit .407 as a junior and is ranked the state’s top catcher by Perfect Game.

▪  Dugas (6-2) is ranked the No. 1 outfielder in Louisana by Perfect Game.

▪  Evans (6-2) went 6-4 with a 3.08 ERA as a junior.

▪  Gibson (6-4) played as a freshman at Oklahoma, where he made three relief appearances. At Wister (Okla.) High, Gibson compiled a 0.94 ERA with 117 strikeouts in 67 innings.

▪  Heuer (6-4) went 5-1 as a junior with 58 strikeouts in 38 innings.

▪  Jenista hit .345 as a junior and is ranked the top prospect in Kansas from the class of 2015 by Perfect Game.

▪  Killgore (6-3), a lefty, earned second-team All-Class 5A and All-Metro honors as a junior at Heights. He went 4-1 with a 1.37 ERA.

▪  Kunert (5-7) hit .396 for Live Oak last spring and Perfect Game ranks him the No. 1 third baseman in Louisiana.

▪  Lewis (6-3) went 11-1 with a 1.84 ERA as a freshman to earn second-team All-NJCAA. The Pirates drafted him in the 33 round in June.

▪  Lungwitz (6-5) went 6-1 with a 1.31 ERA for the Eagles. He is ranked the No. 3 right-handed pitcher in Kansas by Perfect Game.

▪  McGinness (6-1) went 6-2 with a 1.15 ERA for Savannah.

▪  Richards (6-2) hit .376 with eight home runs and a .697 slugging percentage for Cashion.

▪  Ritter (6-0) hit .377 for Rockhurst and is ranked the No. 2 second baseman in Kansas (he is from Overland Park) by Perfect Game.

▪  Seiwald (6-3), a lefty, went 3-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 15 appearances as a freshman.
