Wichita State volleyball sweeps Drake
Wichita State’s volleyball team swept Drake 25-12, 25-23, 25-11 on Saturday night in Des Moines.
Katie Reilly had two kills during a 4-0 run that put the Shockers ahead 8-5 in the first set. WSU stretched the lead to 17-8 with the help of four attack errors and a service error by Drake, and closed the game with a 5-0 run that included four kills by Mikaela Raudsepp.
Drake(12-12, 3-4 MVC) led for much of the second game. WSU took the lead for good on a kill by Raudsepp that made it 22-21. Jody Larson’s kill made it 23-21, and the teams traded points the rest of the set.
The Shockers went up 9-2 to start the third set with Grace Schofield dealing two services aces, and Drake never got closer than five points the rest of the night.
WSU (14-6, 5-1 MVC) hit .393 for the match. Raudsepp and Shimen Fayad each had 10 klls, and Larson and Abbie Lehman had nine apiece. Emily Hiebert had 37 assists and was 5 for 5 on kills attempts.
Wichita returns home at 7 p.m. Friday against Bradley.
