Last season’s game at the downtown arena sold out. The Dec. 12 game against Utah should provide one of the highlights of the season and demand for tickets will be high. Both teams are ranked in preseason polls and the Utes handed WSU a 69-68 loss last season in Salt Lake City.
WSU associate athletic director Russell Wilkins, who oversees ticketing, expects upper-bowl tickets to be available after season ticket-holders make their choices. Last year, he estimates around 6,000 tickets went on sale to the public.
“Every year we sell more,” he said. “I think there will be some pricing areas that are sold out.”
Wilkins said WSU has around 2,800 season accounts for Koch Arena. Account holders can buy as many tickets as they want before seats go on sale to the public.
Season-ticket holders are eligible to buy seats until 10 p.m. Friday. Their dates to buy are determined by priority points standings. At 10 a.m. on their assigned day, season ticket-holders may purchase seats by calling (855) 755-7328, at selectaseat.com or at the Intrust Bank Arena box office.
At 10 a.m. Saturday, tickets go on sale to the public through the same outlets. Prices are $14 and $22 in the upper bowl. Lower-bowl prices range from $27-$152.
The 2:30 p.m. game will be televised by ESPN2. It is the sixth consecutive season WSU will play at the downtown arena. Last season’s 81-52 win over Saint Louis attracted a sellout crowd of 15,004.
Lehman honored — WSU sophomore Abbie Lehman earned Missouri Valley Conference defensive player of the week honors.
Lehman, from Newton, averaged 1.6 blocks in three matches in the Marquette Invitational. She recorded a match-high eight blocks in a win over Marquette and a career-high nine in a win over Albany.
The Shockers (9-5) open MVC play on Friday against Indiana State (11-4) at Koch Arena.
