Four players finished with at least 12 kills and Wichita State’s volleyball team beat Drake 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 26-28, 25-19) on Friday night in Des Moines.
Drake led the first set 19-14, but WSU went on a 6-1 run to tie the score. Drake reached set point, but a kill by WSU’s Ashlynn Driskill made it 24-24, then the Shockers finished the set with a Drake hitting error and another kill by Driskill.
The Shockers led the entire second set, closing it out with two kills by Abbie Lehman and a service ace by MaryAshton Floyd.
Drake rallied from a 23-19 deficit to win the third set, then built an 11-7 lead in the fourth. WSU battled back and took the lead, and Floyd had kills on four of the final six points to end the match.
Floyd and Lehman each finished with 14 kills, Driskill had 13 and Jenny Whitledge had 12. Emily Hiebert had 39 assists and 11 digs, and Dani Mostrom had 29 digs.
Wichita State (15-7, 9-3 MVC) plays at Northern Iowa (15-, 9-2) on Saturday night.
