Emily Stockman reaches first beach semifinal berth in AVP Cincinnati Open
Former Wichita State volleyball star Emily Stockman advanced to her first semifinal match in the AVP Kingston Cincinnati Open over the weekend.
Stockman and partner Ali McColloch earned $7,000 for their semifinal berth, the best finish of Stockman’s pro beach volleyball career. On Sunday, they lost to Angela Bensend and Geena Urango 21-19, 21-19 in the semifinal.
Stockman and McColloch, seeded fifth, won three winner’s bracket matches to advance to the semifinals, including a 22-20, 21-17 win over Bensend and Urango, the eventual runner-ups.
On Saturday, they defeated top-seeded Nicole Branagh and Jenny Kropp 21-19, 18-21, 17-15 in the quarterfinals.
