Former Wichita State volleyball player Emily Stockman finished in a tie for fifth in the Manhattan Beach Open sand tournament, equaling her best finish as a pro.
Stockman and partner Ali McColloch earned $6,000 after winning four matches and advancing to the quarterfinals. They lost 21-13, 21-14 to Emily Day and Jennifer Kessy on Saturday in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Stockman and McColloch also finished fifth in the AVP’s New Orleans Open in May.
Stockman, from Colorado Springs, was the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for Wichita State and twice earned honorable mention All-American honors.
