Wichita State volleyball sweeps SIU
Wichita State’s volleyball team beat Southern Illinois 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) on Friday night in Carbondale, Ill.
Ashlynn Driskill and Mikaela Raudsepp had nine kills apiece for WSU (11-7, 5-3 MVC), and Driskill had a .600 attack percentage. Abbie Lehman had eight kills, three blocks and hit .500; Jenny Whitledge had seven kills and 12 digs. Emily Hiebert had 21 assists and McKenzie Fyfe added 14.
The Shockers took control of the first set with three straight points to go ahead 15-12. The controlled the second set from the start, taking a 5-1 lead and never allowing the Salukis to get closer. Raudsepp ended the set with a kill.
WSU took the lead for good in the final set with five straight points for a 20-16 lead, and Raudsepp ended the match with a kill.
WSU hit .317 for the match, with its attack percentage improving in each set.
Wichita State plays at Evansille on Saturday night.
