Former Shocker Shane Dennis headlines 2025 inductees to Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame
Former Wichita State star Shane Dennis headlines the 2025 class of inductees into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame announced on Monday.
The reception and banquet will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 1, at LaVela, located at 6147 E. 13th St. N., and the cost is $30 per person.
Here are the bios for the inductees:
Neil Allen, from Kansas City, pitched 11 seasons in the major leagues and later worked as the pitching coach for the Minnesota Twins.
Don Carlile, from Liberal, was a driving force behind making the Liberal Bee Jays one of the most successful summer teams in the country.
Shane Dennis, from Uniontown, was an All-America pitcher for Wichita State and enjoyed a professional career in the San Diego Padres system and in Japan.
Dennis Hurla, from Kansas City, was a successful head coach at Bishop Ward High School, where he won 10 state championships, including a run of six straight from 2003-08.
Steve Jeltz, from Lawrence, spent eight seasons in the major leagues after a standout career at Lawrence High and the University of Kansas.
Willie Ramsdell, from Williamsburg, was a knuckleball pitcher who made the major leagues at age 31.
Randy Wetzel, from Great Bend, worked 35 years as an NCAA Division I umpire and was voted in the Kansas Collegiate Officials Hall of Fame in 2018.
Wichita Waterworks’ 1933 team won seven games in a two-week to capture the city and state championships.
