The return of the swoosh: Wichita State announces 5-year apparel deal with Nike
Wichita State announced Monday it has reached a five-year agreement with Nike to become the official outfitter of the athletic department beginning on July 1, 2025.
The agreement is also with BSN Sports, which will be the official supplier of WSU athletic uniforms, apparel and footwear needs for the duration of the partnership. Nike will provide on-field and training gear to players, coaches and staff at WSU for all 16 sports.
WSU is entering the final year of an eight-year deal with Under Armour, which it has partnered with since July 1, 2017.
“As a growing global brand, Shocker Athletics is committed to providing first-class service and experiences for our student-athletes,” WSU athletic director Kevin Saal said in a statement. “Connecting Shocker Athletics with BSN SPORTS and Nike, the preeminent brand in college and professional sports, is both an honor and a privilege as we align resources to meet championship expectations.”
Before WSU partnered with Under Armour, the men’s basketball team was a Nike Elite team. The program actually started out with the Jordan Brand, but following the 2013 Final Four run, Nike changed the agreement and the famous Nike swoosh was prominently displayed for much of the Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker era.
“In aligning with Nike to service the Shocker Athletics program, BSN Sports is positioned to deliver an elite service experience to the student-athletes, coaches and supporters craving access to premier team gear,” said BSN Sports vice president Todd Northrop in a statement. “We are proud of this opportunity to support the Shockers in pursuing excellence across their organization and look forward to the next five years.”
