Wichita State sophomore Payton Tolle has been named one of five finalists for the 2023 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award.

The award, named after the former two-way Washington State baseball standout, is presented annually to college baseball’s top player with versatility at the plate and on the mound.

Tolle will be in All-America consideration after a 2023 season that saw him finish with a .320 batting average with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs, as well as a 9-2 pitching record with a 4.57 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 82-plus innings.

The other four finalists for the award include Florida sophomore Jac Cagllanone, San Diego State junior T.J. Fondtain, Clemson junior Caden Grice and Eastern Illinois senior Ryan Ignoffo.

The award will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this summer.
