This former Shocker basketball player just helped his team to win a Hungary championship
For the first time in his professional career, former Shocker Zach Brown has won a championship.
The 2018 Wichita State graduate chipped in 13 points in a 92-48 win for his team, Falco Szombathely, over Sopron in the Hungarian Cup finals played in Budapest.
Much like he did with the Shockers, Brown has played his role perfectly on a winning Szombathely team. The 6-foot-6 wing is averaging 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals, shooting 45% from the floor, 38% on three-pointers and 78% on free throws.
Szombathely just finished in first place in the regular season of Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A, the top-tier league in Hungary, with a 21-5 record. The quarterfinals of the playoffs begin on Wednesday.
Brown is in his fifth professional season since leaving WSU. He averaged 16.4 points per game in his rookie season, but has steadily moved up to better teams in better leagues as his professional career has played out. The 27-year-old has also been a regular on the AfterShocks, the WSU-themed TBT squad that competes for a $1 million prize every summer.
