Wichita State doubles team wins Central Region championship

Wichita State’s doubles teams of Tin Ostojic and Tomislav Gregurovic won the USTA-ITA Central Region Championships on Monday and will advance to the National Indoor Collegiate Championships.

Ostojic and Gregurovic defeated the third-seeded Oklahoma team of Axel Alvarez and Dane Webb 6-3, 4-6, (10-8) in Norman, Okla. Ostojic and Gregurovic, seeded seventh, improved to 8-1 this fall.

In the first set, the Sooners led 3-2 before WSU rallied. In the second set, the Shockers lost a 4-3 advantage. In the tiebreaker, WSU grabbed a 6-4 edge before Oklahoma tied it 7-all.

The National Indoor Collegiate Championships are Nov. 5-9 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
