Wichita State volleyball opens home schedule on Sept. 10
Wichita State opens its home volleyball season with two matches on Sept. 10 in the Shocker Classic at Koch Arena.
The Shockers meet South Dakota State and Northern Illinois on the opening day of the six-team tournament. They play Kentucky on Sept. 11 and Illinois on Sept. 12.
The Missouri Valley Conference changed its schedule this season to open a fourth weekend for tournament play. WSU plays at Evansville on Oct. 5 as a standalone game without the usual trip to travel partner Southern Illinois. On Oct. 31, WSU plays at Missouri State and continues the road trip at SIU on Nov. 2.
WSU starts the season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Honolulu with matches against Oregon State, Hawaii and Idaho in late August. It also travels to the Texas A&M Invitational and the Marquette Invitational.
A match against Indiana State opens MVC play on Sept. 25 at Koch Arena. Defending MVC champion Illinois State, which went 18-0 in conference play last season, visits WSU on Sept. 26.
The MVC Tournament is Nov. 26-28 at Missouri State.
WSU finished third in the MVC last season with a 13-5 record, going 20-10 overall.
