Four former Shockers headline the class of 2022 inductees to the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame, which were announced on Monday.

Conner Frankamp, Maurice Evans, Loren Hibbs and Kerry Rosenboom are among those with Wichita State ties on the list of 10 sports figures.

Frankamp electrified Wichita basketball fans during his career at North High, where he scored 2,275 career points and became the City League’s scoring leader. After a season at KU, Frankamp played his final three years of college for the Shockers from 2015-18. He has since had one of the most successful professional careers of any former Shocker, rising to play in the Euro League, the world’s top league outside of the NBA, this season.

Evans was named the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year for boys basketball as a senior at Wichita Collegiate and led the Spartans to a state title as a junior. In his career at WSU, Evans led the Missouri Valley in scoring and was ninth in national scoring at 22.6 points per game before finishing at Texas and then enjoying an 11-year NBA career.

Hibbs was a standout baseball player at WSU from 1982-84 and then served as an assistant coach from 1985-92 before returning to the program as director of operations when Eric Wedge was hired in 2020. From 1993-2019, Hibbs was the head coach at Charlotte and won 819 games, seven conference championships and played in five NCAA tournaments.

Rosenboom has been the long-time strength and conditioning coach at WSU, where he has worked since 1987. He has trained countless baseball players who have reached the major leagues, as well as many professional basketball players. He was a two-time winner of the Missouri Valley Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year.

The other inductees are Cathy Desocio (bowling), Dale Faber (Friends basketball coach), Joel Lomurno (Wichita Thunder hockey), Elbert Mack (Wichita North football), Matt Moss (Wichita indoor football player) and Delbert Smith (racing). The sports media inductee was Larry Stanley, a former KFH sports director, and the organizational inductee was League 42, run by Bob Lutz.
