The incredible rise of Fred VanVleet continues.

From undrafted in 2016 to a world champion in 2019 to an NBA All Star in 2022, Mr. Bet On Yourself has added yet another remarkable accolade in his professional career since his All-American career at Wichita State.

VanVleet, who signed the largest contract by an undrafted player in NBA history for a total of $85 million last year, secured his spot in Cleveland on February 20 for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game on Thursday when coaches picked him on the team. VanVleet is just the second former Shocker to ever achieve the feat, joining Xavier McDaniel, who made the 1988 NBA All-Star game.

The 6-foot-1 point guard is averaging a career-best 21.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists while playing the most minutes per game in the NBA. He is third in the NBA with 3.9 three-pointers made per game and is shooting 39.1% beyond the arc for the most efficient scoring season of his career. He’s also helped lead the resurgence in Toronto, which has climbed to No. 8 in the Eastern Conference standings following a slow start to the season.
