Wichita State wins five titles at MVC tennis tournament

Wichita State won the No. 1 doubles and four singles titles at the women’s Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships on Sunday in Des Moines.

Abby Stevens won Flight 1 in singles play with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Illinois State’s Kadie Ilves. In Flight 2, WSU’s Gabriela Porubin defeated Drake’s Summer Brills 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. WSU’s Giulia Guidetti won Flight 4 with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Northern Iowa’s Gisela Kemper. Luca Pump defeated Drake’s Jordan Eggleston 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-2.

Pump and Aleksandra Trifunovic won Flight 1 doubles with an 8-5 victory over Evansville’s Marina Moreno and Marketa Trousilova.

Drake won the other two doubles titles and three singles titles.
