Who, when and where Shockers (and every AAC team) play this week in tournament bracket
Not only did Wichita State keep its at-large hopes alive for an NCAA Tournament bid, but it also secured sole possession of fourth place in the American Athletic Conference and a first-round bye in the conference tournament this week in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Shockers will play the winner between No. 5 Connecticut and No. 12 Tulane in Friday’s quarterfinals at 2 p.m. in Dickies Arena with the game broadcast on ESPN2. Single-game and session passes can be purchased through the Dickies Arena website.
If the higher seeds hold, then WSU’s path to the championship game would feature a semifinal showdown against a Cincinnati team that has narrowly defeated the Shockers in both of their regular-season matchups.
Ken Pomeroy’s metrics assigned Wichita State a 61% chance of reaching the semifinals, a 36% chance of reaching the finals and an 18% chance of winning the tournament, the second-best behind Houston.
