Wichita State basketball moves back into AP Top 25 ahead of Tulsa showdown

The Wichita State Shockers are back in the AP Top 25 rankings after a one-week absence.

After a two-loss week, WSU steadied itself with wins at South Florida, 56-43, and over Central Florida, 87-79, at home to improve to 17-3 overall.

That was good enough for the national voters to move the Shockers back into the top 25, as they received 161 points and finished No. 23 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday. WSU was the first team outside of the AP rankings last week.

In the USA Today coaches poll, WSU remained ranked No. 22.

WSU sophomore wing Dexter Dennis was also chosen to the AAC weekly honor roll for his play in last week’s two wins. Dennis averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, while knocking down a combined eight three-pointers on 47% accuracy in wins over USF and UCF.

The No. 23-ranked Shockers have a week off before playing again this Saturday in a crucial road matchup at Tulsa (14-6), which is currently tied for first place in the American Athletic Conference.
