Wichita State volleyball has easy time with Bradley

Bradley’s volleyball team had yet to win a match this season, and the Braves didn’t give Wichita State many problems in the Shockers’ three-set sweep on Friday night in Peoria, Ill.

WSU won 25-20, 25-13, 25-17 to improve to 8-5 overall, 2-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Shockers hit .353 and made only eight attack errors in the 87-minute match.

MaryAshton Floyd had nine kills for the Shockers and teammates Mikaela Raudsepp, Abbie Lehman and Jenny Whitledge contributed eight each. Setter Emily Hiebert had 36 assists.

Bradley tied the first set at 18 before kills by Hiebert and Raudsepp and blocks by Hiebert and Lehman gave WSU a 21-19 lead. WSU scored four of the next five points to take the set.

Bradley (0-13, 0-3) was led by Madison Kamp’s 11 kills, but left-side hitter Taylor Thiele was held to six kills and 11 attack errors.

The Shockers led by as many as 10 points early to cruise to a Game 2 victory, then rallied from five points down in the third set to complete the sweep.

Wichita State plays at Loyola on Saturday night.
