No. 8 seed Indiana State reaches Valley softball final in Wichita
No. 8 seed Indiana State advanced to the final of the Missouri Valley Conference softball tournament, beating top seed Drake 2-1 on Friday at Wilkins Stadium.
Sophomore Brooke Riemenschneider drove in both Indiana State runs with a bases-loaded single in the third inning. Junior pitchet Taylor Lockwood took a one-hit shutout into the seventh inning. She allowed a pair of singles in the seventh that made it 2-1, then struck out Kailee Smith to end the game.
The Sycamores will face No. 2 seed Missouri State at noon Saturday in the title game.
Missouri State beat Illinois State 3-1. Erin Struemph pitched a five-hit complete game for the Bears, and Mary Stephens hit a two-run homer.
