Wichita State men win Rock Chalk Classic title

Wichita State won the men’s team title and set two school records on the women’s side at the Rock Chalk Classic on Saturday in Lawrence.

WSU’s men totaled 161 points, topping second-place Kansas by 30 points. Kansas State finished fourth with 88 1/2 points. Kansas won the women's meet with 231 1/2 points. WSU finished second with 149 1.2 points and Kansas State third with 129 1/2.

Wichita State's Taylor Larch-Miller broke the school record, previously held by her twin sister, in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.19 seconds to finish first in the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence. Nikki Larch-Miller's time of 13.29 set the standard on April 9.

The Larch-Millers teamed with Shanice Andrews and Deja Young to set a school record with a time of 45.37 in the 400-meter relay, topping the 2014 time of 45.43.

Ugis Jocis won the men’s 1,500 meters with a time of 3:50. Chris Burnett won the 5,000 with a time of 14:22.51.

WSU freshman Kord Ferguson, throwing unnattached, won shot put with a distance of 16.96 meters. Weston Cottrell (62.42 meters) and Skylar Arneson (62.04) placed first and second in the hammer.
