Hitz powers Wichita State past Missouri State
Macklin Hitz capped a six-RBI day with a three-run homer in the seventh inning, helping Wichita State beat Missouri State 10-6 on Wednesday in Springfield, Mo.
Liz Broyles put WSU ahead 7-6 with an RBI double ahead of Hitz’s blast. Hitz had an RBI-single in the first and a two-run double in the third. Katie Malone earned the win with five innings of perfect relief.
Kelli Spring hit a solo homer, and Mackenzie Wright scored three runs for WSU (29-21, 11-10 MVC). WSU clinched the season series, winning three of four games against the second-place Bears (26-19, 14-6).
