WSU bowlers fall at Intercollegiate Singles Championships
Wichita State’s six men’s and women’s bowlers were eliminated before the semifinals at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships on Tuesday at Northrock Lanes.
WSU’s Chris Colella was knocked out in the first round of match play, and teammate Matt McNiel fell in the second round. Tyler Cruz reached the quarterfinals but was ousted by Meeco Walker of Notre Dame-Ohio 645-606.
On the women’s side, WSU’s Kristie Lopez won her first-round match then was eliminated by teammate Sydney Brummett in the second round. Vanderbilt’s Robyn Renslow beat Brummett in the quarterfinals 728-716. WSU’s Daria Kovlova also lost in the quarters, falling to Nebraska’s Julia Bond 736-707.
The Intercollegiate Team Championships begin with qualifying rounds at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Northrock. Match play begins at 4:45 p.m. Thursday and continues on Friday.
Finals will be contested Saturday, beginning with men’s singles semifinals and final at 9 a.m., women’s team finals at 11 a.m., women’s singles semis and final at 3:30 p.m. and men’s team finals at 5:30 p.m.
